Love Song in the Breeze

You will never know

How the trees whisper when you’re gone

Unless you move still enough to trick them

Only then will they swap wisdoms with the shakes of their branches

And share love notes in the scents of their sap

You will never hold

The secrets of the water

If you cannot give her your full attention

Her secrets carry such nourishment

That only through touch can they all be shared

When the snow falls

And the thunder rumbles

Do you listen for the stories that they tell?

Have you learned from their memories?

The ones carried with them cycle after cycle

Dimension upon dimension

If you hold your ear to the Northern star

You’ll see that when the Universe created conscience

They did not intend to erect such excess

As to cast a shadow over Their own existence

Didn’t expect to have Their name translated so vastly

Yet Their lessons ignored so often

Even so

The Universe continues to tell Their history

And share love songs that we forget to notice

In the whispers of the trees

The secrets of the water

And the stories told by the thunder
